Most sites offer deposit bonuses in the form of a ‘welcome bonus’, these bonuses reward the user on the first deposit that they make, often matching the amount deposited with an equally sized bonus. It is important to note that each of these bonuses will have a cap – usually set at 1BTC but can sometimes be larger depending on the website you use. Gambling sites may also offer a second, third or fourth deposit bonus or may just provide a simple ‘reload’ bonus which rewards the user on any deposit that they make (1st or 100th). See the examples below for clarity on how deposit bonuses work:
Example 1: 100% First Deposit Bonus up to 1BTC
Your Deposit: 1.5BTC
Result: 1.5BTC deposit + 1BTC bonus = 2.5BTC total account balance
Example 2: 50% First Deposit Bonus up to 500mBTC
Your Deposit: 200mBTC
Result: 200mBTC deposit + 100mBTC bonus = 300mBTC total account balance
In summary, the % number will be how much of your deposit gets matched, the ‘up to’ amount will be how much bonus you are able to receive. In example 1 you can see that had this cap of 1BTC not been in place, the user would have received a 1.5BTC bonus as opposed to 1BTC. Deposit bonuses are usually credited immediately so that the funds can be played with, other sites will release your bonus as you play.

CAVEAT: deposit bonuses will come with a required ‘rollover’ that must be met before the bonus can be withdrawn. This is the total amount that you need to wager and is a multiple of the bonus that you are due to receive. For example, if the rollover is 30, you will need to wager 30 times your deposit, which on a 1BTC deposit will be 30BTC.
Free Spins
The hint is in the name. When a site offers a user ‘free spins’ the user will be able to play on any (or selected) slot games without having to place a real money bet. This allows the user to not only get a feel for the website, but also stand a chance at winning bitcoin! Free spins will typically be applied to your account after you have made a deposit, however some sites will offer a handful of free spins without needing to deposit.

No Deposit Bonus
For casino, poker and sportsbook players this is the most exciting of all available bonuses. Unfortunately it is also the most rare. Sites that offer a no deposit bonus will provide you with funds for just signing up an account – no deposit is required! The amount provided as a bonus is often a fixed lump, for example you may receive 10mBTC to play with; and in a similar way to the deposit bonuses you will need to complete a rollover before withdrawing the bonus.
